Summer is officially in full swing and before we know it, people across America will be celebrating the 4th of July – one of my personal favorite holidays! From pool parties and backyard bar-b-ques to sparklers and the big boom fireworks, people across the nation will be celebrating our sweet Independence.
For me, this day is a day of celebration, a day to love our country and be thankful that we are free. Every year, since the kids were little, I bought them each red white and blue clothes for that added patriotic touch. It’s one of the only holidays we buy a new outfit to dress up in, aside from Christmas, so you could assume it’s kind of a big deal to us. We have some great traditions that we celebrate every year with family and friends. I’m quite excited for its arrival!
This year, I did our patriotic wear shopping at Kohl’s. Trying to stay close to a $100 budget, I wanted to get something for all four of us. I’m always up for a challenge and I knew that I could do this!
The hubby and I had some errands to run over the weekend, so we made a stop at Kohl’s while we were out. I browsed the entire women’s section and even popped into the junior’s section to see what they had to offer as far as Patriotic wear. There were a lot of great choices available, though I was specifically trying to find a super cute dress. Now that I’m older, I love to wear them – where I didn’t as a kid, teen or even a young adult. I guess my feminine side must be coming out a little more!
After trying on several different styles {and a really cute top that I really wanted too!}, I made my decision on the Apt. 9? Embroidered Empire Dress and found The Man in the men’s section where he was browsing through clothes. We quickly found him a pair of shorts and headed over to the boys section.
After looking around a bit and each coming up with ideas, we chose an outfit for Lil Man and a shirt for Big Bro. They didn’t have any plaid shorts in his size, so we decided to wait and find a pair later since those are his favorite style.
I did pretty good with my challenge finding Lil Man and myself complete outfits, as well as an item for the other two. Lil Man loves his outfit so much that he wore it two days straight. Being summer vacation, I let him have at it but insisted he throw them in the laundry on the third – after he wanted to keep them on!
My new dress is my favorite one now. It’s so comfortable and cute! My sister as well as my brother’s girlfriend complimented it and asked where I got it. They assumed one of those special summer festivals and were quite shocked when I said that I found it at Kohl’s.
When you’re ready to find your patriotic wear for the upcoming holiday, definitely consider Kohl’s. They have some really cute styles for the whole family. Let’s just say that if I had a daughter, that whole budget would have been blown on her. They have the absolute cutest things!
