Similar to the creator of Allermates story, my son ate a cashew one day and his body went into shock. It is one of the most frightening things to witness your child go from completely healthy and bouncing to almost lifeless, that’s how we found out my tot was allergic to Tree Nuts.
We’ve had a few scary moments where family members have offered him granola or trail mix with cashews without realizing there were cashews inside. We now make sure that everyone we know just doesn’t give him anything with Tree Nuts, since there is always the possibility that others in the same family of nuts could cause the same reactions. But we always have worried about what might happen if he went off with Grandma and Grandpa by themselves or was on a visit and a family friend wasn’t aware.
Now Judah has a little Allermates Wristband with the cute Nutso on the front that let’s everyone know he is allergic to Tree Nuts! Each Wristband has its own character. Nutso is a circus performing Tree Nut, but he is not the only Allermate available!
