Nicki’s Diapers is a family business founded by Nicki and later joined

together to ensure the highest quality products while following
responsible environmental and social business practices.
When it comes to cloth diapering I am far from an expert but I have been doing it for over 15 months now and I can honestly say it has been far easier than I ever thought it would be and I now have a slight addiction to buying super cute cloth diapers to build my stash. I did not cloth diaper my first so I have been on both sides of the battle lines. Cloth diapering can be overwhelming at first because there are so many brands out there and each one is slightly different from the rest. Nicki’s Diapers is a place where you can buy so many different cloth diapers and accessories. They also have a wealth of information to help you get started.
I was sent the Best Bottom Diapering System to review. It is a hybrid system. That means that it has a diaper shell and you change out the inserts as they get soiled. I will admit that I am mainly a pocket diaper Mama so I was super excited to try out a different method.
To start here is the diaper shell. On the left at one of the smallest settings and the picture on the right of one of the largest settings. Notice that the one on the left has crossover tabs which is nice for those first few months when baby is so small! It should go without saying that the print is adorable and they have even more adorable prints on their website.
Remember that is only the shell and you will have to snap in the absorbent insert before baby can wear it. The picture on the left is the inside of the diaper. You can see the two places where you snap in the insert on the top and bottom of the diaper. I like this because it keeps the insert from shifting during use.
When you snap it all together you have a diaper ready to go. Lil Sis is about 23 pounds and I have the diaper on the last set of rise snaps and this is the size large insert. It looks like it is over hanging a little but I make sure it is tucked into the diaper when she is snapped into it.
The most important part is the fit. Here is what it looks like on Lil Sis who is around 80 percentile for height and 50 percentile in weight with average to skinny thighs. I apologize for the fact it is blurry. I took several pictures and Lil Sis is at that stage that she makes a horrible model…she won’t sit still!
I am absolutely in love with the way it hugs her thighs. No gaps and for those of you that don’t know, gaps are bad and will make the diaper seem like it is leaking. Absolutely no red marks on her legs either.
Nicki’s Diapers has an even better illustration to describe the Best Bottoms diapering system.
The way that this diapering system saves you time and money is that when baby pees you can simply snap out the insert and snap in a new one. If you need to you can wipe out the inside. Of course when Lil Sis poops it is never contained on the insert so I have to put all of it inside my pail liner by the changing table to be washed later.
With this system it means you need to have less diaper shells than with pockets. With pocket diapers you have to put a whole new one on each time baby pees. I will say that these shells drying super quick.
The only con I would say is that I wish it had two rows of snaps for around the waist. It is just a preference of mine because I feel like it gives Lil Sis a better and more secure fit. There is nothing wrong with just having one row of snaps…like I said earlier it is just a personal preference of mine.
Nicki’s Diapers also sells Planet Wise products including wetbags.
Wetbags are important to keep the soiled diapers in until wash time. The one above is a wetbag for on the go. The cool thing about this one is that it has 2 different compartments. One for clean diapers and inserts and the other larger compartment is waterproof to keep the soiled diapers in. This keeps the smell in and no wet diapers leaking on your clean ones.
Planet Wise has a wide variety of products from nursing covers and changing pads to snack bags. All with a wide variety of super cute designs to choose from. I have personally purchased the Planet Wise Sports bag and I use it to take Big Sis‘s swim class to hold her wet suit afterwards. It works great.
This particular wetbag is perfect for day use. I can easily put 4 or 5 pockets diapers in the dry section but with the Best Bottoms I could easily slip 3 shells in there and 8 or so inserts. I also like the hanging loop on the side because it made it easy for me to snap it onto my drying rack after I washed it. I also used it to snap onto my stroller when out like the zoo so the bag would not have to take up valuable diaper bag space.
Overall I have been extremely impressed with the Best Bottom diapering system and the Planet Wise wetbag. Just today I had Lil Sis wear the shell and one insert and it lasted 5 hours. This is way more than I normally leave her in a diaper but I wanted to test this diaper out to see how far it would go. Even after 5 hours I had no leaks but it was well beyond soaked and I wanted her with a fresh insert before we left the house. There are so many cute prints for the diapers and wetbags a cloth Mama like myself could easily want to collect them all. Husband is always there to hold me back!
