I grew up watching Strawberry Shortcake, I’m sure my parents have embarrassing pictures of me dressed as Strawberry for Halloween. No, you can’t see them! Heads up girls, this is not your Mama’s Strawberry Shortcake!
Released on March 5, 2013, The Strawberry Shortcake: Berry Friends Forever DVD is much different from what I grew up with. My husband calls this version Strawberry 2.0 and it is so true. The graphics on Strawberry Shortcake: Berry Friends Forever are really amazing. Digitally rendered, the characters are crisp and fresh and very stylish.
But the message continues to be one of friendship, cooperation, and caring.
When the very formal Berry Bitty Buggy Derby is revived, the girls are
unfamiliar with the traditional behavior for the event. Blueberry starts
off as the resident expert, but eventually gets so obsessed with
manners she does more harm than good. In the end, the girls work
together and learn the true meaning of being BFF’s or Berry Friends
Forever.
My daughter obviously inherited my love for all things Strawberry and jumped for joy when this DVD arrived in the mail. She has watched it about 100 times since then. She took it to her Grandma’s house so that Grandma could watch it. She even started it over so that Daddy wouldn’t miss a minute. Too funny!
She really has enjoyed watching it. I asked her about her favorite part (keep in mind, she is not quite 4) and she said “when Strawberry was with all of her friends”. And if her insistence on sharing it with everyone she knows is any indication, clearly she loved it.
I think that Strawberry Shortcake: Berry Friends Forever would be a great gift for any little girl in your life!
