DIY Bath Salts
Here is what you need:
-
1 1/3 cup coarse sea salt
-
2/3 cup fine sea salt
-
1 cup epsom salt
-
1/3 cup baking soda
-
7 drops essential oil (lavender, orange, peppermint, etc.)
-
food coloring (orange= 3 drops?yellow and 1 red, purple = 6 drops red and 4 blue, pink = 2 drops red)
-
mixing bowl
-
canning funnel
-
air tight containers such as mason jars
Step 1: Mix the dry ingredients (salts, baking soda).? Add the scent (lavender, peppermint, orange, etc.) a few drops at a time and stir well.
Step 2: Add the color.? I mixed both red and blue right into the salt and got some interesting specks.? If you want a more consistant color mix the food coloring before you add it to the salt.
Step 3: Use the funnel to pour the salt into the jar.? Seal tightly to prevent moisture from creeping in and making your bath salts hard.Step 4: Decorate!? Add a pretty ribbon and your scented bath salt is now a charming gift for friends or family!
I made 3 different “flavors” of Bath Salts: Sweet Orange, Peppermint, and Lavender.? They turned out so pretty I’m not sure I want to give them away!!? Thankfully I have all the ingredients to make my own after the holidays!
