Growing up I didn’t have the best financial sense. I somewhat remember my Mother trying to explain it to me, but every week I got allowance it was gone in the first two days. I got my first job when I was 12 being the local paper-girl and although I had a checking account and made a little bit of money, I still had the worst financial sense any kid could have with a job as a tween. I had a job every year of my life until I turned 26 when I became a Stay-at-Home Mom and let’s just say I’m very thankful for my husband who has better financial skills than I do.

My tot, who is only beginning to learn about money is in love with these books. The illustrations are created by an amazing editorial cartoon artist, Marshall Ramsey, who has appeared in publications including the New York Times, Newsweek, U.S. News and World Report! He has even been a two-time Pulitzer Prize Finalist! The attention to detail and expression is perfect, the stories are absolutely in great tone for children and also open up discussion between parents and kids.
I am very impressed with the entire system created by Dave Ramsey. My only wish is that I actually had it when I was a kid! My sons have really taken to the entire thing, my tot with the stories and figuring out how to get coins out of us for his piggy bank and my teen who has recently had an epiphany about doing house-work. For my husband and I, it’s really helped us create a system that works for our family and understanding how it is beneficial for all of us to work together and find ways that we can all be happy without over-spoiling or under-appreciating.
