Sometimes, we all need to take a step back and enjoy the little things in life. But, with the rush and on-the-go temperament of most people this day and age, even taking the step back needs a little planning. I can admit, that ever since I became a mother, I stopped enjoying the little things, fully taking care of myself, and just in general started to miss out on all the fun life could throw at you. I love being a mom, but my life has definitely been child-centered. Realizing I needed to put the brakes on, I started to wonder how I could enjoy my life again, outside of being a mom.

Cloud 9 Living is a website offering an easy way to search, pick, and book some once in a life time experiences without having to leave the comfort of your home. I was lucky enough to have two Cloud 9 Living cities near me, Charlotte and Raleigh, both in North Carolina. I happen to live closer to Raleigh, so I looked under Region<East Coast<Raleigh. Pretty simple, huh? What wasn’t so easy was limiting myself to one experience. Everything sounds wonderful, stock car riding, golf lessons, tandem sky diving, and more. Knowing how I’m scared of heights and high speeds (I am so horrible to ride with in a car, I push on that invisible brake often!) I opted to search through the various Spa Packages available and finally settled on the Facial with Foot Fantasy massage.

Doesn’t that just sound heavenly? It was. One hour was not long enough for this experience. First, I used my gift certificate online and chose three different days and times that suited me. I heard back from the salon a few days later and confirmed my appointment day and time. (The day after my birthday!) The day arrived and I went to the appointment in something comfy and tried to arrive a few minutes early. When I went into the building, I became instantly relaxed, the atmosphere was amazingly serene and tranquil. I filled out some paperwork and within minutes, I was whisked away to a private room. As it was my first time, the therapist asked me what I used on my face and then explained the whole process in simple terms. Finally, I settled on the bed/cot and the facial began. I expected it to hurt or be uncomfortable, but it was very relaxing. The lights were dimmed, relaxing music and sounds played, and my senses were rejuvenated with aromatherapy. My face was cleansed, massaged, and treated with a gentle touch. My therapist had such a wonderful voice, I had to try very hard not to fall asleep! Mid-way through the facial, another wonderful therapist entered the room and started my foot and leg massage. Hot stones and warm towels were used in the process. I had been fearful of the hot stones, but I found them to be so comforting, I wished I could throw some into my sandals afterwards! I truly have never felt so relaxed and calm. The hour flew by and I found myself thrown back into my day before I wanted to be. My skin was a bit red for a few hours afterwards, but it is very sensitive, and felt smooth and vibrant for a few weeks afterwards. I was even sent home with a list of items I could use at home to repeat the process. I cannot wait to go back again.
