THE WORLD ALMANAC AND BOOK OF FACTS is an American institution that millions of people have turned to for 137 years. Ever since the first edition was published in 1868, it has been improved, revised, expanded, and updated from year to year to keep up with our changing world. Accuracy, adaptability, tradition, and innovation are the qualities that make the award-winning WORLD ALMANAC the best-selling reference book available. It contains millions of easily accessible facts in compact form.
My 12 year-old daughter Libby is a unique child. When I say she is unique, I mean she is not like most 12 year-old girls that I know. Instead of chasing boys and worrying about things like her hair and makeup, she is off filling her head with useless knowledge and crafting things from duct tape, tin foil, and any other item she happens to stumble upon.
When it comes to useless knowledge, she is my go to person. She enjoys reading different books about world records, life facts, and really, facts about any subject as long as it is not something she needs to know for school. Seriously, she struggles in math and never retains anything she learns in class but if you ask her why or when someone did something or who holds this record, the kid knows!
Her latest obsession is The World Almanac for Kids 2013. This book arrived at our new home about 2 days into our move and the minute she had it out of the package, she was reading it. From what I have learned so far, my husband shares the same birthday as David Beckham, that Continental Drift is not just about a movie, and that there is a blurb about our beloved Green Bay Packer Wide Receiver Donald Driver winning the last season of Dancing With the Stars (that last bit was something we all knew since we watched him win the mirror ball trophy).
The World Almanac for Kids is filled with thousands of fun, fascinating facts and essential homework help on a wide range of subjects, this full-color almanac has been completely updated with new content and jam-packed with quizzes, experiments, puzzles, games, activities, jokes, maps, Web sites, and much more to get young readers excited about learning.
I love that this book is kid friendly and is arranged by subjects and offers the kids a little bit of everything. Libby is already looking forward to bringing this book to school and sharing it with her class.
