As a mother, one of your worst fears is losing your child, even if it’s for just a split second. Every year, the fourth of July reminds me just how scary that can be. A few years ago we lost Big Bro right after the fireworks ended and he was gone for about 5 minutes. It was the scariest moment of my life and I would never in a million years want to re-live it. The crowd stood up, he was right next to me. He followed his little friend for a split second to another blanket, then lost him and our whole group. Luckily, we found a cop right away and within a minute or two another police officer had found him.

I have recently come across a new app for Verizon customers, the Verizon Family Locator; which is perfect for a situation like the one that I mentioned. You can get a “bird eye view” that will show you exactly where a family member’s phone is at any given time.
From your PC, phone or tablet, enjoy the comfort of knowing you can check on the location of family members? phones. Family Locator is a simple, secure service that allows you to:
- Receive arrival & departure updates for each family member. A Verizon Wireless exclusive!
- Locate your family members.
- Create scheduled location updates for each family member.
- Now available as an Android app and Web app for iPhone (fl.vzw.com on your phone’s browser).
The Verizon Family Locator sounds like a really great app to keep you on top of what your family is doing at all times. Kids get way more freedom now a days and it’s nice to know that you can still have a way to check in on them without having to call and/or text them constantly. I’m sure it would come in handy for all of you that have teens too since they seem to want to take a mile for every inch you give them.
You can do family messaging and even schedule check-ins for your family members. That would really come in handy for summertime fun such as amusement and water parks. Take a look at the video and it sort of walks you through the steps to set the Verizon Family Locator up on your phones.
You’ll see another option is to keep an eye on your teenage driver. Well most of you know that I took guardianship of my teenage brothers last year after my father passed. One of the boys just got his license a few months ago. While I trust him and know that he is a good driver, I still can’t help but worry. It must be those “mom instincts”, but I worry how crazy I’ll be once my own boys hit the road!
The Verizon Family Locator is pretty budget friendly too at just $9.99 per month, which covers every phone on your account. For a limited time, you can even get the first month free!
