GLIDE INTO SUMMER WITH THE TOUCHINGCOMING-OF-AGE TALE SKATELANDExperience The Joy And Heartache Of A Time When Life Was Easy,
Arriving On Blu-ray and DVD August 30Summary: As the world around him changes, a small town boy is thrust into adulthood and must face the uncertainties of his new life in the mesmerizing and nostalgic SKATELAND, arriving on Blu-ray and DVD August 30 from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment.. Nominated for a Grand Jury Prize at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival, SKATELAND paints a stunning picture of the economic and social stresses of the early 1980s and features a talented young cast.Ashley Greene (Twilight saga) and Shiloh Fernandez (Red Riding Hood) co-star in this powerful coming-of-age drama that took the film festival circuit by storm. For Ritchie Wheeler (Fernandez), a carefree teenager growing up in a small Texas town, Skateland is more than just a local roller rink…it’s a fading symbol of friendship and good times. Now, everything’s changing and the only thing Ritchie can hang on to is his budding romance with the sweet and beautiful Michelle (Greene). But one fateful night will force Ritchie to face the future and make the most important decision of his life.
Sine the kids are back in school, I have a little bit more time on my hands. That can be a good thing, since I seem to get a lot more done, but then sometimes it’s just plain boring. So when Skateland arrived at my door, I new I could look forward to a day of curling up on the couch. And today, that’s just what I did!
Skateland had me at hello, simply because I remember skating rinks! I used to go all the time. It was one of the only things for tweens/teens to do when I was that age. Some of the moves the kids were doing just completely took me back; to a time of innocence, a time of wonder and a time when I was defining who I was.
I couldn’t help but be a little sad during the scene when we found our Skateland would be closing. Poor Ritchie felt as if he were losing a part of himself, and I suppose in a sense he was.
Watching true love unfold is what really made this movie for me. Like most guys, Ritchie didn’t even know what he wanted until it was almost too late. An epic take of love, friendship and confusion, Skateland is a definite must see!
