The tools themselves are adorable and the perfect size for little hands. The peeler has an angled plastic blade to make it safe to remove peels from fruits and veggies. The knife has a stainless steel blade with rounded serrations.
My oldest daughter was immediately able to start peeling veggies for the salad for our dinner. Since there is no blade it just means you have to get the angle just right to get it started and peeling the rest was honestly really easy for her. My 3 year old also used it but I helped her a lot more where my 6 year old could fully do it all on her own.
To use the knife to cut you use a sawing action while still having parental supervision of course. Both my daughters were able to use the knife on their own. There were no children cut in the making of this review!
It really is safe on the skin. This is the perfect knife and peeler for any family of young kids. Our next step will be to teach my oldest how to cut up her own meat at dinner.
They best part about these tools is how it gives my girls the feeling of independence while using them. They were working on hand and eye coordination and it was all it the name of fun for them. Big Sis is already asking what she gets to cut up next. Now my husband has his full time prep cook in training all ready to go. She loves helping in the kitchen and with these tools there is so much more she can help us with. I am so excited to be teaching her how to cook at such a young age and now the whole family is in the kitchen together getting dinner ready. These quality knives and peelers really are kitchen tools little chefs need.
