Cold and flu season is in full force here in South-East Wisconsin. We’re about 2 months in, yet have another 2 or so months to go. Living in this bitter cold climate, you’ll not likely escape coming down with something at least once during this dreadful season. But luckily, there are things that you can do to combat that nasty cold or flu.
1. Keep Your Home Clean – While that’s a given any time of year, it’s especially important during the winter months because germs are in abundance and more likely to spread.
2. Stay Well Rested – A lack of sleep affects your ability to feel awake and refreshed. Ensuring that you’re well rested helps your body fight off illness.
3. Feed Your Body – Vitamin C is a natural defense against the common cold. Taking a Vitamin C tablet or eating foods rich in Vitamin C is definitely a smart choice this time of year.
4. Tackle Symptoms When They Start – Getting in control of your illness in the early stages is crucial to a speedier recovery. Tackle those symptoms as soon as they hit with the help of Vicks DayQuil and NyQuil Severe.
5. Pass the Tissues Please – No, I don’t want you to go off and cry on someone’s shoulder. These tissues are for your nose, not your eyes. When you get a nasty cold, blowing your nose becomes something you do many times a day. Make sure you have some soft tissues with lotion on hand. Otherwise you’ll end up with a raw, nasty feeling nose.
Typical for something that would happen in my household, the very day that I stocked up on Vicks DayQuil and NyQuil Severe, my husband and son ended up with a cold. I took off early in the morning to do some shopping at Walmart, came home and Big Bro informed me that he had a sore throat and stuffy nose. Since he’s 15 now, he gets to use the grown up medicine and was quite thankful that it was available in capsule form {though the liquid is available as well}. I don’t know what it is about that boy, but he’s always had something against the liquid version.
An hour later, my husband was complaining about the same symptoms as Big Bro so this mama spent her weekend taken care of sick patients. Is my husband the only one who acts like the biggest baby in the world when he’s sick and feels the need to be waited on hand and foot? All I can say is that I’m thankful that Vicks DayQuil and NyQuil Severe helped make him better because I would have lost it dealing with one more day of that!
