Wisconsin Dells has a lot to offer families looking for a fun filled summer vacation. There are so many places to stay and even more adventurous things to do. But in all of our visits, one resort sticks out and is my favorite of them all – Kalahari.
It’s just breathtaking from the moment that you walk into the lobby. There are statues of African animals all around, a gorgeous fireplace and sometimes even live animals like tigers to look at and pose for photos with! Take a stroll through the hallways and you’ll see more beautiful African themed decor, which continues into your room. It truly is a beautiful place and super fun for kids (and adults too)!
I’ve been to Kalahari in Wisconsin Dells at least 6 times and have never once been disappointed. So instead of sharing all about our experience this time – since we’ve been there, done that – I want to share some of my favorite reasons to stay at Kalahari.
The View
When you get a room overlooking the outside waterpark area, the view is just amazing. As soon as I stepped onto our balcony, I knew we were in for a day of fun.We were on the third floor and were able to get almost a full view of everything. It was amazing!
Fun in the Theme Park
What more could you ask for than an indoor theme park complete with Go-Carts, rides that go upside down, Laser Tag, rock climbing and fun arcade games? My boys had a blast in this area and the bonus is that it’s open until midnight – after all of the water rides are closed.
Boogie Board on the FlowRider?
This is a must every single time we visit Kalahari. My sons and my brothers love it and it’s pretty awesome when you’re watching as a spectator and someone that really knows what they’re doing gets up there.
Mud Hut Swim-Up Bar and Kalahari’s Amazing Cocktails
The Mud Hut Swim-Up Bar was new to us this visit and let me just say that it was awesome! It is the perfect area for adults who want to escape the kids for a few moments. You can chill in the water, order your drinks and even watch your favorite game! I must say, they serve the tastiest cocktails at Kalahari too!

The Swimming Pool
Some people just like to swim and many other places in the Dells lack an actual swimming pool. We were all quite excited to just chill in a swimming pool. The thrilling water rides are fun, but sometimes you’re just not in the mood for all of that and I think Kalahari totally gets that!
Indoor Lazy River
I know, you’re probably thinking I’m crazy for listing a lazy river – but let me tell you, this is unlike other lazy rivers. I fell in love with the lazy river at Kalahari years ago, when hubby I and some friends visited, without kids. It was wonderful, relaxing and still is to this day. The lazy river takes you through almost the entire indoor water park, but you rarely see people and rides; it’s sort of secluded I suppose you could say. What’s really cool is that this lazy river ends up in the wave pool, which is so much fun after a relaxing ride through the river!
Kalahari has so much to offer people of all ages. You can rent cabanas, dine at multiple restaurants right inside the hotel and you can even bowl with the family! There are a ton of super fun water rides and many areas for the little kids to enjoy as well. I can almost promise, your visit will be worth it and the whole family will enjoy themselves!
Free tickets to attractions for Kalahari Guests!
I got a very pleasant surprise when I went to check us into our room upon arriving at Kalahari. From now until August 31, guests will receive free tickets for the Tommy Bartlett Show and the Timbavati Wildlife Park! We went to both and they were great. This was our second time seeing the Tommy Bartlett Show and I really do believe it’s the “greatest show on Earth” like they say! If the little kids can stay up that late, I recommend the evening show because the light show is just amazing!
