It’s that time of year – Easter is almost upon us! I honestly cannot believe how fast 2014 has started to fly by already. Just think, we’re already 1/3 of the way through the year! Easter has always been one of my favorite holidays and I’m excited to share some of my family’s traditions with you this year! But first, I’d love to share with you how I made these adorable Easter Basket Cupcakes!
Supplies:
- Yellow cupcakes (any will do, I made mine from the box)
- Vanilla/white frosting
, dyed green (you can use a few drops of green food coloring)
- Coconut
, dyed green (again, you can use a few drops of green food coloring – just put coconut in a ziplock bag, add a few drops of food coloring and shake until all coconut is coated)
- CADBURY MINI EGGS
- TWIZZLERS Pull n Peel
Directions:
Prepare cupcakes, frosting and coconut. Separate TWIZZLERS Pull n Peel so you have sets with 4 strands each, then cut in half. Using a knife, cut two slots on each side of cupcake; stick each TWIZZLERS Pull n Peel end into into hole in cupcake. Frost cupcake, then sprinkle coconut on top to look like Easter grass. Arrange 3 CADBURY MINI EGGS on top.

My family received a big package of Easter goodies from HERSHEY’S, so I wanted to use some of the candy to share some of our Easter traditions with you. We’ve got quite a few of them and they sure are fun!
The first I’m sharing is the Easter Nest – started by my Father in law, before my husband was even born! He started making nests with Easter grass on the table, then loading it with candy for all of the kids to enjoy! His family had held onto the tradition throughout the years and now we share the same tradition with our children!
The nests are easy to make, just lay out a bag or two of Easter grass in the middle of the table, then load it with candy and other goodies. It makes for a great centerpiece and all of the other Easter trimmings can go around it.
One of the traditions that my family shared with me as a child was the Easter Basket. The Easter Bunny would come on the eve of Easter and load baskets full of goodies for each of the kids. He’s sneaky you know, so he would hide them all around the house and each of the kids would have to find their basket loaded with special treats and their favorite goodies!
When the kids were little Egg Hunts were among our Easter traditions as well. We would fill the little plastic eggs with small candy, trinkets and money; then hide them around the house or yard (depending on good ole Wisconsin weather that time of year) for the kids to find. This was by far my favorite tradition ad I can’t wait until we have little kids around so that we can do Egg Hunts again!
