It’s football season and that means “Game On” in my house. I’ve had a lot of free time now that the busy summer is behind us’so I’ve been really getting into the football theme with fun crafts and decor so that our game days rock. I’ll be sharing how to make this?DIY pallet football sign later on in this post!
With 6 males, someone is definitely watching our home team play every week and my job is to make sure there are game time snacks for those hungry boys to much on. When there’s a game on, snacks andSNICKERS, we all win. The boys are happy, I hear screaming and hollering from the other room and I get just a little bit of time for “me”, with aSNICKERS in hand!
DIY Pallet Football Sign
You’ll need the following supplies to make your?DIY Pallet Football Sign.
- Pallet
- Dark brown and white paint
- Paint brushes – large, medium and small
- Wood putty
- Saw
- Pry bar
- Tack gun or hammer and small nails
Step 1. Start by cutting ?pieces of wood off the pallet, 21 inches wide. Cut two more pieces about 4 inches wide. Secure those 2 smaller pieces to the back of the bigger boards, one on each side, using a tack gun or hammer and nails. Now if you plan to hang yours, make sure they’re even and then you can nail a wire into each. I use an easel though so I skipped that step.
Step 2. Stick some wood putty into the holes left behind from the original nails in the pallet. Let dry. Optional: Sand the surface and edges. I preferred the rustic look.
Step 3. Paint the entire surface brown, using the large paint brush. Let dry. Optional: Apply a second coat and let dry. I preferred the rustic look.
Step 4. Using a medium paint brush, paint?your white line. Go over it until it’s the desired width and color. Flip the board around and do the same to the other side.
Step 5. Using the same brush, paint?the large line for the laces. Grab a small detail brush and paint the lines of the laces.
Step 6. Using that same small brush, paint your letters on. You could opt to use a stencil if you want it perfect.
