Now that summer time is just around the corner, the kids will be getting out of school before we know it. But did you know that many kids don’t read during?the summer??I know, sounds crazy – but it’s true! That’s why Scholastic and Energizer? have teamed up this year for the Summer Reading Challenge. The theme is “Power Up &?Read” and they’re encouraging kids to unlock 12 original short stories as they reach certain reading milestones. Sign up for the Summer Reading Challenge started on May 4, 2015 and runs through September 4, 2015.
My boys have set a goal to read for at least 2.5 hours each week during the summer. Scholastic provided us with everything that we’ll need, including a few great new books to start off with. We’ll be utilizing the Power Up & Read 2015 Summer Reading Booklist, which categorizes ?books by age. We also have some fun printable sheets like The Innovative Machine, reading log, school reading pledge, an innovation story starter and there’s even a certificate of achievement that we can fill out at the end!
