I think this has been one of the busiest Memorial Day weekends for us since as long as I can remember. We broke tradition this year and didn’t go camping. However, we are planning a huge trip next weekend and so far the count is over 30… our biggest group yet. It should be fun!
We were nonstop on the go all weekend, my poor house is neglected. We went to a friend’s Friday for a bonfire. Saturday we grilled and Christened our new fire pit, yay!
Our gazeebo got infested with spiders that night {yuck} and we had to spray a whole can of raid. I’m sure we must have a nest under the deck, so we’re going to have to bomb under there.
Sunday started out with the kids’ first swim in auntie’s pool. They had a blast and were so disappointed when we had to leave an hour later for a friend’s cook out. Lil Man was so mad that we had to leave the pool because it was so hot out.
Lucky for me, our friends had a baby pool. I guess he’s never too old or big for one of those lol. Big Bro even hopped in there at one point.
Uncle M sat at the kiddie table with them to eat. I guess you’re never too big for one of those either. Although they all look it to me!
Then they climbed a tree together in the front yard. Of course I was having a having a heart attack the whole time since Lil Man did fall out of a tree a couple of years ago and break his arm. But I suppose you do have to live and learn and I can’t keep my kids in a bubble. They are boys and they like to do boy things.
Later when it got dark the kids all got to ride on a trailer being pulled by the lawnmower. The boy with them is one of our friend’s sons. He was born 2 days after Big Bro and his mom and I went through our pregnancies together. I was overdue, so we took a walk to put me into labor. It put her in too, 4 weeks early!
Memorial Day was spent at the man’s aunt’s house. They made Hobo Stew, YUM!
The kids got to swim again and they had a blast. I think Lil Man was in there almost the whole time we were there. Of course, he didn’t want to get out when it was time to go home either!
It was a very long, exhausting weekend and I’m glad it’s over. I have so much cleaning to do, it’s not even funny. We’re leaving for camping Thursday, so I have 2 days to get everything done, yikes!
