My family really enjoys movies and with 3 teens as well as a tween in the house, The Hunger Games soon grew in popularity around here. At first, I didn’t realize what all of the hype was about and had very little desire to actually see the movies. But then Lil Man talked me into it one day when he wasn’t feeling well and I soon became hooked. After that day, I watched every single movie and highly anticipated the release of each new one.
Since I wasn’t very familiar with the movies, I had no idea that there were books too. But since I’m always up for a good read, I was excited to read The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, before the film releases on the big screen.
Now, The Hunger Games Mockingjay Part 1 was an excellent read. What gets me most about this entire series is the character Katniss. She remind me so much of myself with her strength, willingness to help others and desire to do the right thing by her sister. I love that they made the main character a heroine instead of the typical male hero that you usually find. I think it gives hope not only to young girls, but to all women. We are powerful in our own ways and I think a lot of my fellow women out there would relate to this purposeful character as well!
The Hunger Games Mockingjay Part 1 releases in theaters tomorrow and I am beyond excited to see it, especially since reading the book! I want to see all of my beloved characters come to life and I just know Katniss and Peeta will not disappoint! For the first time in many years, I am actually going to attend a showing on the day it opens. Wish me luck!
I’m not giving out any spoilers because that’s totally not my style, but I highly recommend seeing this one!
