Pregnancy is an amazing journey, but it also can be nerve-wracking one, filled with questions and concerns…Having a baby changes everything. Suddenly, things that once seemed simple–taking a trip to the store, enjoying a cup of coffee, sitting down to read–aren’t so simple anymore. New mothers have many questions, and they need answers–and also reassurance. “You’re not the only one! No one said this was going to be easy!” Who better to answer questions, to offer reassurance, than mothers who have been there, and mothers who are also physicians–the Mommy MD Guides!
?I am not currently pregnant, but, who knows what the next year holds? But, I have about a million friends and relatives pregnant, and, since I already have the “been there, done that,” look to me (I call in the withered down mother of a two year old look), I often get calls, texts, and emails asking, “Is this normal?” To a childless person, two years is nothing. I bet most people can recall what they were doing. For a “mommy brain”, I cannot tell you what I ate for breakfast yesterday, if I even ate anything! So, it’s great to have the resources of The Mommy MD Guides at my fingertips to help jostle my memory and something to hold on to when baby #2 finally gets here!
I wish The Mommy MD Guide to Pregnancy and Birth had been around during my pregnancy.? With the wisdom of 60 doctors, who are also mothers, divulging over 900 tips, tricks, and their experience, this pregnancy book just blows others out of the water! I remember supplementing one book with another on top of internet research and still being confused. This first book is amazing with no extra frills, the moms and doctors tell it like it is. Just like your pregnancy, the book is broken up into three sections along with a fourth part labeled Your Baby’s Birth which is a great section to help first time moms relax about the delivery part of the pregnancy. A lot of books don’t do a well enough job of covering this, but the MD Guide covers hospital births, at home births, and c-sections. As a c-section mom, I do wish the section had a more unbiased tone to it, but it’s still a lot better than most books that only offer a little blurb about how horrible it is to get one!
