My family gets into learning about time periods before ours and we’re especially interested in medieval times. It’s such an interesting time in our history and Lil Man really gets into it. When we were invited for a complimentary visit to?Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament, I knew that we had to go experience it, and that he would just LOVE it!
We stopped in for lunch during our recent road trip to Chicago and it was really so much more than I had anticipated. From the moment that we stepped inside, we were waited on like royalty from the staff members who were donned in attire worn during that time period. They even spoke using words and accents from medieval times, making our experience even more?realistic.
There were fun photo opportunities and we even took one with the princess. Before the performance, we had a few minutes to spare so we browsed around the gift shop area, finding neat little trinkets that took us back into a time long ago.?Then we were called to our table so that the fun could begin.
Upon entering the massive arena, it felt as if we were actually stepping back into time and it was pretty neat! All of the guests are seated in one of 6 sections (we were in green) and are then encouraged to cheer loudly?for their knight to be brave and strong so that he can become the King’s champion. A different knight wins each time, but our Green Knight won during our show, which was fantastic!
Dinner is served in tune with the medieval time period, with no utensils so it’s interesting and quite messy to eat with your hands while feasting on tomato bisque soup, chicken, potato, corn and garlic bread. It’s definitely a meal fit for a king and quite delicious too.
You’ll experience many performances during the 2 hour show – jousting and weapons battles between knights, the flight of the royal falcon and so much more. It’s an amazing show that’s perfect for families and groups alike. We’ll definitely be heading back soon!
