There is something special about Christmas time. Even though there is always so much to get through before the big day, there is an air of excitement for the whole month of December. Embrace the festive season and have some fun this silly season.

1. Christmas Lights Expedition
Who doesn?t love piling the whole family into the car and setting off to find the very best Christmas lights display in your neighbourhood? Not only do the kids love this night out but I know for a fact that mum and dad love it just as much. There is something special about seeing thousands upon thousands of twinkling lights in an array of colours. We can?t help but stare in bewilderment at the sight before us and loving the effort that has gone into such a magical time of the year.
2. Tree Lighting Ceremony and Christmas Carols
This is another fun activity that suits the young and old at heart. Almost every city or small town has a tree lighting ceremony which is done in conjunction with Christmas carollers and concerts, setting the perfect atmosphere for this Christmas event. Spend the night singing along to all your favourite Christmas songs and await an appearance from the man in red himself.
3. Make Christmas cookies
All kids love to help in the kitchen, especially when it means making something yummy to go with your Christmas cards. Give a photo card to your friends this year that is unique and truly you and accompany it with a bundle of homemade cookies wrapped in cellophane and adorned with a Christmas bauble and tinsel. Your friends will love the extra effort you have gone to this year to show just how much you care.
4. Christmas Photo
Screaming babies, runaway toddlers and lists as long as your arm! Santa experiences it all at this time of year, he certainly is a very patient man. Christmas photos provide the whole family with great memories of a joyful and celebratory time. It captures the essence of Christmas and exactly how your kids felt about him each year. Some will make you laugh and some may even make you cry but they are a memory worth having forever.
5. Throw a Christmas Party!
Share the spirit of Christmas and hold a Christmas party for friends and family. There is never a better time of the year to go all out and entertain the people you love. Make your own decorations with the kids and there are plenty of Christmas games to keep the children busy during the party?you will probably enjoy getting involved yourself.
The thought of running out of things to do around Christmas time is not one that crosses our minds very often, but if the time comes and you have time to spare, consider engaging in one of the above activities that the kids will love.
