Josh & the Jamtones New Album "Bear Hunt" Released Today!

Josh & the Jamtones are a Boston based Kiddie Rock band that mixes a lot of amusing entertainment with ska/rock sound and dance party style. They’re second album (released today!) is Bear Hunt, which is a new silly take on the original story intermixed with original fun tracks.

I love how this album was put together. In between the tracks are pieces of the story with the band going on a hunt to find the Evil Scary Bear From Bear Mountain. I was pretty much laughing through the whole story, especially the track Death Valley Cornfield of Doom where Josh & Patrick talk about hugging the evil scary bear!

There are 14 tracks on Bear Hunt, 4 of which consist of the “story” and 2 featuring Special Guest Father Goose!

Many of the songs have a Caribbean feel to them, especially the modernized Swing Low, Everybody Dance and I Love U; from the instruments to the vocals, there are very smooth beats that allow you to slip into the groove of the songs. However, Everybody Dance! changes it up between island instruments to fast beats that really make everyone start jumping around!

Pirate’s Life picks it up and gets kids jumping around and making silly pirate sounds. Tot was bouncing all over the place singing “ARGH!” as loud as he could. As the song goes it gets faster and faster and faster, which just makes the kids laugh so hard and Tot fell down giggling many times. I think this is his personal favorite!

My favorite is The Snow is Falling Down. It’s a really beautiful melodious song about winter coming. There is something about it that touches my heart and reminds me of the love between parents and their children, holding tight during the cold months and sipping cocoa.

Of course right after The Snow is Falling Down is Snow Day, which I find amusing. It is the exact abstract between parents and children when they see the snow falling. We’re all nostalgic and dreamy and kids are running mad, excited about no school! So it isn’t surprising that the song begins with everyone screaming “Yahoo!”

Josh and the Jamtones really hit it with this album. It’s the perfect blend of silly storytelling, bouncy dance tracks and lovely sing-song melodies. You can find out more about their new album, their previous hits and their tour schedule by visiting their website!
