What a great assortment of summery and ocean books from Sourcebooks! It’s never too early to to teach our little ones about science. Although my children have outgrown board books I plan to use Climate Change for Babies and ABC’s of Oceanography for science this year. I love the illustrations in Cannonball and Fussy Flamingo.
Cannonball by Sacha Cotter and illustrated by Josh Morgan:
A summer tale about family, overcoming fears, and the importance of being oneself, all in the pursuit of performing the perfect cannonball
I’m ready to pull off the perfect cannonball, but everyone has advice.
“You need more weightâ€
“Bigger shorts!â€
“More muscles!â€
“BIGGER SHORTS!â€
As one boy searches for the secret to executing the perfect cannonball, it’s only by listening to his own voice that he finds his unique style and pulls off a truly awe-inspiring CANNONBALL.
A celebration of native culture, a glossary including Maori words is included.
Fussy Flamingo by Shelly Vaughan James and illustrated by Matthew Rivera:
A hysterical flamingo children’s book about a picky eater and her encouraging parents, perfect for fans of Grumpy Monkey and I Don’t Want to Be a Frog
Meet Lola, the “no, no†flamingo. Lola will NOT eat shrimp, thank you very much. She does NOT care that it will turn her feathers pink. It is just plain yucky. But when Lola sneaks other snacks, she discovers that you really are what you eat. Each time Lola tries a new food, she turns that color, with hilarious results! This very silly story will delight even the pickiest of young readers and resonate with parents eager to see just one bite.
Don’t miss the fun flamingo facts in the back!
