As our loved ones age, their needs change. There are things that get harder for them to do, and sometimes, they are unable to do certain things for themselves anymore. Often, they rely on loved ones for certain things, yet now they can get even more wellness, whole-person health, and support services through some Medicare Advantage plans. This post sponsored by Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield but opinions are my own.
What is Whole-person Health?
Our relationships and how we interact with others are what whole-person health refers to. Connecting with those around us, and building healthy supportive relationships is key to our whole-person health.
How does whole-person health affect wellness?
Developing and maintaining healthy relationships is key for whole-person health and overall wellness. Isolation and not having healthy social interactions can be damaging to our health.
Now you can see why whole-person health is important in our lives and is an important part of aging. Many elderly people don’t get as much social interaction as they were once used to, which can negatively affect their overall health. The good news is that Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield
offers access to services in order to help your aging parents, grandparents and other loved ones maintain their whole-person health. Some of their new service options for 2020 include nutrition support and counseling, service dog support, and pest control. These new services are offered in addition to the services already offered like healthy food delivery, health-related transportation services, adult day centers visits, personal home helpers, and alternative medicine/acupuncture.
These benefit options offered with many of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield’s Medicare Advantage plans can have such a positive effect on whole-person health for our aging loved ones. Through day center visits, they will be able to socialize and interact with others. They can participate in activities, and perhaps even pick up a new hobby. For those with a service dog, the benefit of an allowance to obtain items like dog food and leashes can really help people in taking care of their companion.
Pest control services can be a huge help by having professionals tackle a task that is likely too hard for them to do themselves. Cooking for one can be pretty tough, or perhaps cooking isn’t even really an option as some people age. Healthy food delivery after coming from the hospital or for those who have certain chronic diseases ensures that our loved one is still eating well and getting the proper nutrition that they need.
Lowering barriers is one of the best ways to help people live healthier lives and Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield understands the importance of making it easier for people to access these things that address everyday health needs. Through these services, health related incidents are more preventable, and our loved ones may be able to better manage chronic conditions, while being able to maintain whole-person health through engaging with their community.
Annual enrollment for Medicare ends on December 7, so be sure to look into the options for yourself or your Medicare-eligible loved ones. These services offered by Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in many of their Medicare Advantage plans can be a great asset to living a healthier, more fulfilling life.
