What is the sales tax per state? That’s a great question, and a common question that someone who sells goods might have. Each state has their own set sales tax. Some are lower, while others can be much higher. I’ll shed some light on that for you within this article. This is a sponsored post, though all opinions are my own.
Which state has the highest sales tax 2019?
There are actually two states that tie at first place for having the highest average combined state and local sales tax rates in 2019. The sales tax rate for Tennessee and Arkansas is currently 9.47%! That seems like a huge number to me! What do you think?
What state has the lowest sales tax 2019?
Alaska is the lowest state for sales tax, at 1.43%. However, that is not the rate for the entire state, as Alaska does not actually have state sales tax, but some ares within the state of Alaska have a sales tax. Confusing, I know!
Which state has no sales tax?
Believe it or not, there are four states within the US that do not have sales tax! If you live in (or shop in) Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire, and Oregon, you will not be paying sales tax. That good news for those of you who plan to make large, expensive purchases since you will not have to pay any sales tax on it.
How do I figure out sales tax?
Calculating sales tax might sound very complicated to some, but it is actually something that you can easily figure out with a calculator. If an item costs $60 and the sales tax is 7.5%, you would multiply 60 x 0.075, resulting in a sum of $4.50. Or the way that I do it would be 60 x 7.5% = $4.50. Either way, you get the same result, and it is quite simple to figure out.
I do realize that sales tax can be quire confusing though, so sometimes it might be better to just call in the pros like a sales tax service. A company like TaxConnex specializes in sales tax services and providing sales tax support to its customers. They even offer sales tax filing services, and take all of the guesswork out of sales tax for business owners.
What is the sales tax per state?
These are the current sales tax rates per state, as of 10/1/2019. They are broken down by each state. However, you must realize that some counties within each state also impose a task. For example, I live in Wisconsin, so my state sales tax is 5.000%. My county charges 0.100% so when I am shopping in my town, I am paying 5.100% in sales tax.
