So glad to say Vacation Bible School was a huge success, this years theme was Game On! All the kids were excited about their crafts! One of my favorites was our DIY Football Windsocks! The kindergartners, 4K and 3k children loved being able to paint! I?m always disappointed when my child comes home with something an adult made for them. As a parent I completely understand that some things a child should not do, but the actual creation should solely be their own. I would much rather have something imperfect that my child made by themselves than something their teacher made for them.? I wanted to share this DIY after school began to get your children ready for football season!
Supplies:
- Empty can of any medium to large size
- Team ribbons of your favorite football team
- Hot glue gun
- Paintbrushes
- Brown and white acrylic paint
- Something to make holes
- Rope or cording for hanging
Step 1: First have your child paint their can with brown paint. This may take a couple of coats.
Step 2: Next paint your football grips.
Step 3: Now have an adult hot glue the team ribbons of your favorite team. Also this is a great time to add your holes. I used a screw driver and a hammer.? Just something larger enough to fit your twine through.
Step 4: Last add your string of choice to hang your windsock.? I used twine and I double knotted it on the inside of the tin can.
When considering crafts for children you must always think of age appropriate projects. For instance I had 1st through 4th grade create Fishtail Rainbow Loom Bracelets from a plastic fork. Everyone excelled at this project! I always try to incorporate a keepsake so the children will keep it instead of toss it.
Will you be creating a DIY Football Windsock with your child?
