I do not think it is possible to have too many books in a home! My husband might disagree but he understands that books are one of my true loves. I love reading to my girls and I love when they have a wide variety of books to chose from. Baby Sis may only be 8 months old but she still is read to every night. Gotta start them when they are young! Here are 6 awesome and unique board books for baby girls from Downtown Bookworks.
Girls love shoes. I LOVE flip flops so I have a huge collection of them, Big Sis likes boots and Lil Sis likes sandals. It doesn’t matter what kind of shoes it is most girls tend to gravitate towards them. My Favorite Shoes is 16 pages full of fun shoes that are meant to be touched and felt as little ones love texture! Maybe Baby Sis will grow to love rain boots! Both Big sisters especially love reading this book to our newest family member.
To go along with shoes there is of course a girl’s trusty purse. My Favorite Purse is an interactive book full of different purses! This one is 16 pages of all kinds of purses including fancy ones to wristlets so that hands are free for climbing trees! My oldest 2 are girly girls to the extreme so it will be exciting to see what Baby Sis will be like when she gets older.
DC Super Heroes: My First Book of Girl Power showcases the strength, intelligence, kindness, and bravery of the women in the DC universe! It does not get any more “super” than this! From Wonder Woman’s ability to find the truth to Batgirl’s sharp mind to Black Canary’s powerful voice, DC’s super heroines are wonderful role models for young girls. I liked super heroes before they were trendy so of course I am thrilled to see them everywhere nowadays! Start their love of super heroes from the beginning with this board book!
The next three books are not specific to girls but they are really great books so I wanted to mention them as well!
Mama, Baby & Other First Words uses famous paintings by Van Gogh, Renoir, Monet, and other major artists expose babies and toddlers to fine art and common first words. Big Sis especially likes to read this book to Baby Sis and when we are done we often check out more information online about one of the paintings. A really unique board book that makes even big siblings want to help with reading to baby!
Turn the Key on the Farm allows little ones ages 1+ to open doors and peek inside a chicken coop, pigsty, horse pen and more. Toddlers LOVE books with moving parts and they key is absolutely mesmerizing to them. Little ones will want to use it to open the door on each page set and then there is a fun photograph of animals to see. Throw in a neigh or baa while you read and this book is perfect for story time.
To round off this set of book recommendations is PBS KIDS 100 Words for Babies. An absolutely PERFECT book for any baby’s bookshelf. It contains a collection of 100 thoughtful first words and phrases for kids who are soaking up language. Bonus for me is when Lil Sis reads it to Baby Sis then she is working on reading some common words.
We have been reading these titles repeatedly over the last few months as they are favorites among my girls. You can find these books and more Downtown Bookworks titles conveniently on Amazon. Happy reading!
