I love fall…watching the changing leaves, college football, bonfires and hayrides. Love to snuggle up with my sweetheart next to a cozy fire what a great way to express all the things I love about fall than a Mason Jar Fall door decoration!
DIY Mason Jar Fall Door Decoration
Materials:
~Acrylic Paint- black and white
~Sandless grout
~Paintbrushes
~Water Jar
~Jig Saw?1/4? Plywood
~Wire for hanging
~Drill?(bit depends on size of wire)
~Pencil
~Chalk Ink
~Burlap fabric or ribbon
Step 1: ?First you will need 1/4? plywood. My jar is approximately 20? x 13?. The jar shape is fairly easy to draw, and it is okay if your jar is not perfectly symmetrical. Draw your jar shape on your plywood in pencil and cut it out using your jig saw. Before you begin painting drill two holes at the top of your jar about two inches apart for hanging.
Step 2: ?Next you will need to prepare your chalkboard paint mixing a cup of black acrylic paint to a tablespoon of sandless grout. If you choose you may certainly buy chalkboard paint instead. Once it is mixed apply it to your mason jar. ?However, I have a bag of sandless grout leftover from tiling my floor and I am quite pleased with my recipe for chalk paint.
Step 3:Then you will create your mason jar lid by adding shadow going around the jar lid and add a few highlights and viola you have a mason jar.
Step 4: If you have Burlap ribbon by all means use it. ?If not just cut off a strip about 15″ X 3″ if it is too much just cut off the remains. ?I tied mine with ribbon so that it would not come off. ?Later I plan to do another design on the back and just add another bow for it.
Step 5: ?Finally add your wire hanger and words -This is a super easy craft to do at home and still look as if you had it professionally made. ?Happy Fall Y’all!
