I just love Learning Resources toys and games! They are a leading global manufacturer of innovative, hands-on educational products trusted by teachers and parents and loved by children. We have been playing with several of their toys for years and they are always a hit with my girls! Lil Sis started kindergarten this year and that means she is learning how to read. After learning her letters and sounds it begins with sight words. She does not always enjoy us practicing sight words but when it is put into a game she is all about it!
Sight Words Swat! A Sight Words Game is a fast paced game where kids work on learning and recognizing their sight words. It includes 110 Double-sided sight word flies and 4 colorful swatters.
With 5 levels of play, this game is for kids of many ages! After one of the 220 Dolch sight words is called out, use your swatter to swat the word on the matching fly. Collect the most flies and win!
For this game the learning style is visual, tactile and auditory. For skill development they will work on word recognition, eye-hand coordination, vocabulary building, problem solving and following directions.
It is for ages 5+ but it works through children in about the 3rd grade. The grade level for the words is based on the color of the fly. Blue is pre-primer and it goes up to purple that is 3rd grade words. To make it fair when my girls play Big Sis has to count to 5 before she swats to give Lil Sis a fair chance.
My girls really love this game and it is definitely helping Lil Sis to learn sight words.
