Top Trumps Card Games are Quick, Fun & Educational

With themes that range from Harry Potter to Star Wars each illustrated card in the deck boasts facts and figures that youngsters from 6 to 12 comprehend then negotiate in friendly competition as they shout out their newly learned stats and trivia.

Each deck is played the same ? shuffle and deal all cards face down. Each player holds their cards so that they can see the top card only. The player to the dealer’s left starts by reading out a category. The one with the best or highest value wins and that player collects all the top cards. After round and round of play, the person with all the cards is the winner.

My girls like that the decks are small so they can play in the car or a restaurant or even in a waiting room at the doctor’s office. Big Sis especially loves the themed decks like Harry Potter and Star Wars where Lil Sis appreciates Shopkins and DC Super Hero Girls. They love that the cards have characters they love and that they are learning more about the less common characters too. The game is definitely helping with their reading and number skills. The want to see if their card won so knowing which number is higher is an important skill!

It can be a fast paced game since you are calling out the category you want to compete in and then you each throw down your card to compare the number. Some nights we are super busy so I like having these quick games so we can still play a game as a family but it won’t keep us all night. These games are addictive in a fun way because the girls want to constnatly play…even without good ol’ Mom’s help. I like seeing their growing independence and Top Trumps definitely gives them that.
