I received Monsters Unleashed for this review/feature. Opinions expressed are my own.
Even though I have not read it yet I wanted to share with you the release of Monsters Unleashed that came out earlier this week. It is a monstrously fun new series from John Kloepfer, author of the fan-favorite series The Zombie Chasers. I love The Zombie Chasers series and I love the cover art for Monsters Unleashed so it is on my to read list. It looks like a great book for kids ages 8 to 12 since most kids love monsters!
Freddie Liddle has a big problem: Monsters. Giant, fire-breathing, electric-shocking, bone-crunching monsters are attacking his town. Even worse, it’s Freddie’s fault. After drawing monsters based on the meanest bullies in his class, Freddie used his school’s 3D printer to make models of them. But the last thing he expected was that the monsters would come to life and keep growing, and GROWING, and GROWING.
There’s just one way to stop these oversize beasts: recruit the bullies, since only they know how the monsters think. But teaming up with his worst enemies is Freddie’s worst nightmare. Can Freddie make friends with his bullies and save his town, or will the monsters have the final ROAR?
John Kloepfer is the author of the popular Zombie Chasers series and the outofthis?world alien trilogy Galaxy’s Most Wanted. Monsters Unleashed is his eleventh book. Once he figures out how to defeat the monsters he just 3D printed, there will be more on the way. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife, Jenny, and their dog, Doozy.
Mark Oliver likes being an illustrator because he gets to paint, draw, and use his creative genius in many different ways using a computer. Sometimes he does it so well, he wins awards for it (the Stockport Children’s Prize in 2006 and 2011, among others). Mark’s very clever, but he never brags about how clever he is, just in case people ask him tricky questions about zombies, string theory, or moral relativism.
