I have always loved The Gruffalo as a child.? When I taught I would read this book to my students.? As an artist I love seeing books come alive in animated films. ? Both of these animated films are based on the children’s picture books written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler.? The Gruffalo is a cute story about a mouse with a big imagination that makes up all kinds of stories about the Gruffalo to keep from getting eaten by all the animals in the forest.? The sequel The Gruffalo’s Child?the Gruffalo told his child to stay out of the deep dark woods because the Big Bad Mouse lived there.? I just love the irony!
Here are some Gruffalo books, movies and toys that you might like to purchase for your favorite child!
The Gruffalo’s Child
One snowy night, the Gruffalo’s Child ignores her father’s warning and bravely tiptoes out of their cave into the deep dark wood in search of the Big Bad Mouse. On her journey, she meets Snake, Owl, and Fox but no sign of the fabled Mouse. He doesn?t really exist?or does he?
I love how the Gruffalo’s child discovers The Big Bad Mouse in the woods. ?How many times has your child done the opposite of something you have told them not to do just to find out what all the fuss was about?
The Gruffalo
This enchanting tale tells the story of a mouse who walks through the woods in search of a nut. Along the way, he encounters a hungry fox, owl, and snake who all think the mouse looks good to eat! Forced to rely on his wits for survival, Mouse invents an imaginary monster with frightening features to scare them away, but what happens when he comes face-to-face with his own creation?
