It is the happiest time of the year….the Christmas season. My whole family goes all out for our favorite holiday and we love everything from the food and decorations to the presents. It feels like a celebration the whole month of December. On the first of the month I get out our collection of Christmas books so we can read them all month long. Here are our new additions that have been recently released from HarperCollins Children’s Books.
Five Little Elves written and illustrated by Dan Yaccarino is a fun board book for ages Newborn to 4. Five little elves spend Christmas Eve loading up a big sleigh with presents, to help the man in red, Santa! Kids will enjoy this spin on a classic nursery rhyme all while enjoying fun illustrations.
Laugh-Out-Loud Christmas Jokes for Kids written by Rob Elliott is for ages 6 to 10. This book will become an instant family classic. Every page is full of holiday cheer as kids will laugh at one joke after another. Why don?t lobsters give Christmas presents? Because they?re shellfish!
Prissy & Pop Deck the Halls written by Melissa Nicholson is for ages 4 to 8. It’s Christmastime, and Prissy and Pop are preparing for Santa’s arrival. They?re trimming the tree, baking cookies, and singing carols. But wait?they forgot to send Santa directions to their house! Will they have a merry piggie Christmas after all?? This is a fun book because it is full of photographs of the real Prissy & Pop all dressed up. My girls adore these piggies and their silliness.
Clark the Shark Loves Christmas written by Bruce Hale and illustrated by Guy Francis is for ages 4 to 8. Clark the Shark is a fabulous picture books series and in this one Clark is excited about his class? Secret Santa celebration. He is most excited about who is giving him a present. The problem is he becomes so wrapped up in what he’s going to get that he forgets to give too!
The Most Perfect Snowman written and illustrated by Chris Britt is for ages 4 to 8. This is truly a heartwarming winter story about a quickly constructed and, just as quickly forgotten, snowman who dreams of being as finely-dressed as his fellow snowmen. His dream finally comes true and gets the accessories he has always wanted. Then after a big storm he is faced with a character-defining decision.
Reading these books brings us a little bit of Christmas cheer every single night. I enjoy reading and my girls love listening to them. We can never get enough books in our lives and these are a fabulous addition to any Christmas line up.
