For those little sports fans ages 3 to 8 there is a fun children’s book series to teach them basic rules of different sports. My First Book of Hockey: A Rookie Book by Sports Illustrated for Kids is a great way to teach the basics of Hockey to both kids and adults.

The number of kids playing organized hockey in the U.S. is rising each year, and their parents ? hockey dads and moms ? are legendary for their passion about the sport. My First Book of Hockey introduces the basics of the game through a fun mix of stellar Sports Illustrated action photography, simple text, a full glossary of terms, and cool graphics. Readers learn how power plays work, how the three period game flows, what a hat trick is and much more! The illustrated rookie character that appears on every page guides the reader and helps create an ideal shared reading experience between parents and their rookies.

The pictures are fun, the words are easy to read and I even learned a few things since I really only knew the basics of hockey beforehand. Now I know what “shift” and “on the fly” mean in relation to hockey. Reading this book sure makes me wish I knew how to ice skate! My First Book of Hockey: A Rookie Book is a great way to introduce hockey to little readers and possibly get them interested in a whole new sport!
