For those of you looking for a not so scary good time with the kids this Halloween then check out these 5 ghoulishly good reads from HarperCollins Children’s Books!

Go to Sleep, Monster! by Kevin Cornell and illustrated by Kevin Cornell. It is time for bed but the monster under the bed is keeping the young boy from sleep. The problem is that the monster is scared of the monster underneath him! The story goes deeper and deeper as we see the monsters come to life in super cute illustrations and a story that will put a smile on anyone’s face. This book was definitely written for bed time. For kid ages 4-8 this book will provide a great read right before bed, which happens to be my favorite time to read to my girls. Put any fears of monsters to bed with this book!
Grimelda: The Very Messy Witch by Diana Murray and illustrated by Heather Ross for ages 4 to 8 is about an adorable little witch named Grimelda that keeps her place a bit messy but it is just the way she likes it. She goes to make a pickle pie but she can’t find the main ingredient anywhere! She can’t even find her spell book! The only way to find anything will be to clean. Now that her house is clean it no longer feels like home. Luckily there is a spell for that. This rhyming book with adorable illustrations is a fun one kids will want you to read over and over again.
Enzo’s Very Scary Halloween by Garth Stein illustrated by R. W. Alley is for ages 4 to 8 and follows that lovable mutt Enzo as he learns about Halloween. Enzo doesn?t know what to expect but soon sees Jack-o?-lanterns light up the streets, giant spiders weave webs on porches while every child and dog transforms into a creature of some kind?including Enzo! He is so nervous and yet he has his Zoe to protect! Good thing his family is there to let him know it is all pretend and suppose to be fun. Enzo books are always a joy to read. The story is fun and the illustrations give little readers a visual story to follow. You will want to read this one every Halloween!
Monster Trucks by Anika Denise illustrated by Nate Wrag is another fun picture book for kids ages 4 to 8. On the spooky speedway Monster Trucks are indeed trucks that are monsters! They grumble and groan as they all race to the finish line. One truck doesn’t look so scary but isn’t quite who you think. This is especially cute for kids that love monster trucks and it is not at all scary!
I absolutely love Fall and Halloween so these books especially appeal to me! Enjoy the season all month long and snuggle up with your kids and these 5 books for Halloween.
