I think I’m obsessed like everyone else with Mason Jars. Not only do I use then for canning, but crafts as well. If your a crafter you know the possibilities are endless.? My daughter saw an idea on Pinterest for her birthday favors.? It was an image with all the SPA Day supplies in a Mason Jar.? So naturally I got to work trying to find jars that were not my actual canning jars. She’s like “you have tons you won’t miss five of them”. Finally I gave in and gave her four Mason Jars, but I wanted to try tinting them.? I have been wanting to try tinting the glass different colors, but haven’t taken the time to try it, but I didn’t like the plain Mason Jar with SPA Day supplies in them.? That’s how I came up with the DIY Mason Jar Tinting idea.
Materials:
Modge Podge
McCormick’s Neon food coloring
Paintbrush
Aluminum foil
Cookie sheet
Step 1: I preheated my oven to 225?.? First you start by painting the inside of your jars. Instead of using a paintbrush I just poured some Modge Podge in the jar (enough to fill the bottom) and two drops of food coloring. I then swirled the liquid around until it covered the inside of the glass. You can also paint the inside as well. I tried it both ways.
Step 2: Secure your aluminum foil on your cookie sheet. Then place your painted jar upside down on your cookie sheet (give the paint time to run out), and?place it in your oven for ten minutes. Once your ten minutes are up flip the jars over, and continue cooking for another 20-30 minutes. Just be sure to keep an eye on them. You will know when it is time to take them out.
If you would like to create our SPA Day party favors all you need is a piece of t-shirt material, jar lid, manicure/pedicure kit, toe separators, nail polish and?lotion. This was a great idea for a pre-teen birthday party.? All of the girls had a great time being pampered.
