I don’t usually write about stuff like this, let alone post anything on this blog, but it’s time that I stop being “politically correct” by keeping my mouth shut, not voicing my opinions and pretending in this online world that the real world is?all sunshine and rainbows. Because let’s face it, it’s not. And we’re all going to have different opinions, but that’s ok. Our?differences are what make us each unique individuals.
The massacre in Orlando over the weekend is so tragic and my heart breaks for the families of those who lost their lives, the?injured, every person that experienced that ordeal first hand, the American people and the entire world. Because what it did in a sense, is continue?to divide us. It shed light on three major things that there are very different opinions on?- terrorism, the LGBT community?and guns. Your opinions may differ from mine regarding all three of these, but again, that’s ok.
Let me first discuss terrorism.
Divided We Fall
Terrorism, by any group or individual?is set to scare us, to divide us; to make only one way of life true and right. But how can that be when there are so many different religions and races on this Earth???The fact is that it can’t be right. Our duty as people is to love and embrace everyone, regardless of our?differences. Each of our lives matter, bottom line! Let’s not let any terrorist win by letting their acts create fear in us, to fear those around us. Let’s not let this war happen right in our backyard because the bottom line is that divided we fall and that’s what terrorists want. They want us to hate. They want us to fight. They want us to fall.
Quit fearing the LGBT community!
It’s normal to fear what we don’t understand, but stop it. Really! What people do in their bedrooms is none of our business. If women sleeping with each other or men sleeping with each other’scares you, then you might be horrified by some of the kinky stuff that happens in some heterosexual couple’s bedrooms! You don’t have to agree with it. You don’t have to think it’s right. But in the end, only God can judge us. Our place here isn’t to judge.
I have an aunt who is a lesbian and?I accept her. In fact, she married a woman in Canada and I accept her too. They spent a week with us a couple of summers ago and even my kids accepted them both. Why? Because they are people!
Guns aren’t the culprit.
People kill people. That’s the bottom line. A gun is a tool that?a person may choose to use to kill another person but if they didn’t have access to a gun, they’d just choose another tool, rather than choose not to kill someone. Banning guns is not the answer because the criminals and the killers would still find a way to get one or just find?other weapons to carry out their crimes. Personally, I feel a million times safer having a gun in my home to protect me from these nut jobs!
Regardless of what you or I?think is right or wrong, we need to find a common ground and ban together as a nation so that we don’t let these things divide us.. because they will and that would be a scary reality and who knows if any of us will survive it in the end.
