Families across the globe will be taking road trips this summer and?they will surely be fun experiences. But before your family hits the road, there are a few things that your car needs to ensure the long journey without any hiccups on the way. I’ve created this Road Trip Car Care Checklist to help you along the way and the best part is that they’re all pretty simple tasks that even us ladies can do if we’ve got the?right tools in hand. Checking the tire pressure and fluids is a breeze; something that everyone who?owns a car should be able to do. But you might be surprised to know that changing an air filter is just as easy!
An air filter is the first line of defense when it comes to your car’s engine. When the filter is clean, it prevents dust and dirt from?getting inside the engine and doing damage, while improving airflow. Increased acceleration, horsepower, and overall engine performance improvements can be attained by keeping the air filter clean, while a dirty air filter will do the exact opposite. Just look at how dirty our last one was on the van – yuck!
The air filter was so simple to replace on our van that it took my husband less than one minute and didn’t require a single tool! He just loosened the clamp around the air box, took the old filter out and stuck the new one in, tightening the clamp back up afterward. I told you it was easy enough for a girl to do!
FRAM air filters can be purchased right at Walmart right in the automotive aisles, while you’re shopping for groceries and whatever else you might need. They even have the little computers or books there so that you can look up the specific filter that your car needs, without even having to ask anyone. That’s how I roll because I like to be a woman in the know. And just think, I’ll bet the man in your life would be impressed if you came home with one all on your own!
Head over to the FRAM website for more tips and tricks. There are even some helpful “how to” videos!
