This post has been written in partnership with Skylanders, though all opinions are my own.
Being a mom of boys, video games are most definitely a part of our lives. Between the 4 boys, they have 4 gaming consoles and even my husband games. Heck, I’ll admit it – I game from time to time too! My favorite are adventure type games, like Skylanders and?now they’re celebrating their 5th anniversary!
5 years is big and Skylanders wanted to do something huge to celebrate their big 5 year anniversary so they enlisted the help of Duff Goldman and his team to create an epic cake for them. Fans across the world got to see it all in action on Cake Masters, which premiered on Food Network last night. We had a party to celebrate and if you happened to miss the episode, it will air again this Saturday, April 16 at 2pm ET.
Skylanders Party Ideas
I know there are lots of Skylanders fans out there so I’m sharing all of our Skylanders party ideas with you so that you can host a super fun party for your kiddos!
Let’s start with the food. I wanted to stick with the Skylanders theme for everything, to make our party exciting for the kids. So I looked to my favorite party resource – Pinterest, and found some really great ideas. Here are 5 Skylanders themed food ideas for your next pary.
Crusher’s Hammers – Cut a block of cheese into squares and insert a pretzel rod into the center. be careful not to go too deep with the pretzel, because it will split the cheese.
Whirliwind’s Rainbows – Rainbow licorice. Stand them up in a glass or mason jar.
Spyro Eggs?- Red grapes
Cloud Parfaits?- Blue Raspberry Jello and Cool Whip
Chompy Watermelon – Cut out the middle of a watermelon and scoop the melon out with a melon baller. One the melon is out, create jagged edges for the teeth and cut some of the outer melon scraps into triangles. Attach a grape to the middle of each with a toothpick and attach them to the top of the “head” with toothpicks. Fill the watermelon back up with the chunks you took out.
Duff’s Cake Mix – I used the blueberry because it’s blue, added white frosting and blue sugar sprinkles.
To make the table even more festive, print these Skylanders labels, cut them out and glue them to card-stock so your guests can see the fun names of your food menu! When you go to print them, just make sure you click off “fit to size” so that they format right.
You can grab fun themed decor from party supply stores like tablecloths, plates, napkins banners, centerpieces and more. Sprinkle some Skylanders confetti around the table for added flair. I also loaded the coffee table with party decor and treats, as well as the Skylanders Portal and some characters.
You can create fun goodie bags for the kiddos using blue craft bags. Fill them with Skylanders tattoos, key chains, bracelets, glow sticks and more. Grab some masks to make things extra exciting for the kids!
We had such a blast at our Skylanders party and absolutely loved the Skylanders episode of Cake Masters. Their cake was nothing short of amazing. The sculptors and decorators did such an awesome job bringing these characters to life and we were in awe with how massive the finished cake was!
I hope that you’ve enjoyed these Skylanders party ideas. Feel free to pin some of our ideas, share on your social channels and/or bookmark this page for your next party!
