For some cute picture books with a focus on family and finding your voice here are two new releases from HarperCollin’s Children’s Books. Samanthasaurus Rex by B. B. Mandell and illustrated by Suzanne Kaufman as well as the book My Little Sister and Me written and illustrated by Maple Lam.
Samanthasaurus Rex is not your typical T. rex.
She?d rather paint animals than chase them.
She prefers sorting bones to gnawing on them.
Bite and fight?
Nope. Sam uses her words.Naturally, her parents and brother worry?will she ever be a strong, fearsome leader like a true T. rex? But when disaster strikes, it is Samanthasaurus Rex who saves the day?in her own unique way.
This funny, reassuring story is perfect for any child (every child) who marches to the beat of a different drummer.
Today is an exciting day. I get to take my little sister home from school for the very first time. It’s a big job for a big brother, but I can do it!
Debut author-illustrator Maple Lam’s charming story celebrates the special relationship between a little boy and his younger sister.
Even as kids get older and learn to read I find the age group 4 to 8 still really love picture books. Samanthasaurus Rex is full of bold and beautiful illustrations of a whole tyrannosaurus rex family and one particular dinosaur is not quite like the other. You follow along on a dinosaur family outing and learn that being different is more than okay and in ways you still are like the rest of your family. Kids love dinosaurs and they will love this dinosaur book! In My Little Sister and Me the big brother gets to walk little sister home from the bus stop but it is easier said than done! Little Sisters have plenty to say and are easily distracted. Look for these adorable picture books for your next book adventure.
