Here are some cute new release, picture books for ages 4 to 8 from HarperCollins Children’s Books that have both a cute story and cute illustrations to go along with it!
Dill is a duck.
An ordinary duck.
At least that’s what he thinks. Then he meets Bizzy.
What a strange bird! Can a perfectly ordinary duck and a strange bird become the best of friends?
Dill & Bizzy: An Odd Duck And A Strange Bird written by Nora Ericson and illustrated by Lisa Ericson is about an odd couple….a strange bird and an ordinary duck. The strange bird thinks having an odd duck friend would be pretty great but the duck insists he is just ordinary. It doesn’t matter as they still have a great time hanging out together….even though everything they do together is a tad odd. A book to show how friendship should be about being yourself…odd, strange or even ordinary.
Girl and Gorilla are best friends.
Girl and Gorilla want to play at the park.
But how will they get there?
They can . . .
hopscotch!
Or jump rope!
Maybe they can just close their eyes and wish they were there!
But when they open their eyes . . . they are not at the park.
Will Girl and Gorilla ever get to play at the park?
Girl & Gorilla: Out and About written by Rick Walton and illustrated by Joe Berger is the cute book about the friendship of Girl and Gorilla. They are the best of friends and on this day they want to play a the park but they are having a dilemma on how to get there.
Sophie and Goose are best friends. But Sophie is worried that Goose gets lonely while she’s at school. What if Sophie found Goose another friend to play with? The two take an exciting trip to the zoo to meet some new friends. But wait! What’s all that noise?
SQUAWK!
GRRRR!
SQUEAK!
Young readers will laugh along as Sophie and Goose have a blast at the zoo in this delightful story from Laura Wall.
Goes Goes to the Zoo written and illustrated by Laura Wall is part of the book series my 4 year old absolutely loves! Sophie and Goose are best friends but since Goose can’t go to school with Sophie she thinks he needs a friend so he won’t get lonely. This adventures takes them to the zoo in search of a new friend for Goose.
Three eggs in a nest begin to wiggle and wobble, until . . .
CRACK!
CRACK!
CRACK!
It’s a duck . . .
duck . . .
DINOSAUR!
Meet Feather, Flap, and Spike. They’re three unlikely siblings who each want to stand out. But together, they make the biggest splash!
Duck, Duck, Dinosaur is written by Kallie George and illustrated by Oriol Vidal. Mother duck is taking care of her 3 eggs and as each one hatches she gives them a name. When the last one hatches he is quite different than the rest but no matter…she names him Spike. Together they have a blast as a family. This book is exactly the type of humor little ones love because it is so silly!
All four of these fabulous picture books for ages 4 to 8 have fun illustrations which (in my opinion) are just as important as the story itself when it comes to picture books. The pictures are engaging and a joy to look at. These would make a great addition to any child’s bookshelf.
