My girls really enjoy reading books about manatees because we are fortunate that we get to see a manatee from time to time here in Florida. They are some unique animals for sure! Kobee Manatee: A Wild Weather Adventure is the second book in Robert Scott Thayer’s award-winning picture series that follows the adventures of Kobee the Manatee. What makes this series so great is that on each page set is in-depth, scientific details titled “Kobee’s Fun Facts.” In this book that means there is information on weather events that the characters happen across on their journey.
Loaded with surprises and exciting facts about weather, this thrilling tale follows Kobee Manatee as he travels across the mighty Atlantic Ocean into the strong Gulf Stream current . . . during hurricane season! His daring adventure begins when Kobee decides that he wants to surprise his sister Kim, who lives in the Bahamas, on her birthday. Will Kobee and his friends, Tess and Pablo, be able to travel safely from their home in Key West, Florida, through all of the wild tropical weather coming their way? Each page includes in-depth, scientific details titled ?Kobee’s Fun Facts,? which expand on the weather events that the characters encounter along the way.
A Wild Weather Adventure recently won the Silver Medal in the 2015 Readers’ Favorite International Book Awards in Miami! In this book you not only follow a cute story but there are educational elements to make this an overall awesome book for kids. I was actually surprised how much I really enjoy this book and it is one you won’t mind reading over and over again. A cute story, an interesting animal, fun illustrations and learning about different kinds of weather makes this a fabulous book. We cannot wait to read more of Kobee’s books!
