I love a good sugar scrub to help exfoliate my skin and I’ve always wanted to try making my own. I’m a big fan of coconut, so I went?with a coconut oil base. Since I have dry skin, I thought I should?add a little bit of lotion to my sugar scrub so I picked up a couple of bottles of?Jergens Wet Skin Moisturizer while?I was doing my weekly shopping at Walmart.
I chose?Jergens Wet Skin Moisturizer Coconut Oil since it seemed fitting and added the?Jergens Wet Skin Moisturizer Green Tea Oil for a lovely scent. And as a lotion on it’s own, I love that it instantly locks the moisture in?on wet skin and doesn’t require rinsing.
Now the fun part begins and you won’t believe how easy it is to make your own sugar scrub. What’s great is that you probably already have half the ingredients in your pantry! You’re going to need the following ingredients to make Green Tea & Coconut Sugar Scrub:
- 2 and 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup coconut oil (heated to become liquid)
- 1/4 cup?Jergens Wet Skin Moisturizer Coconut Oil
- 1/4 cup?Jergens Wet Skin Moisturizer Green Tea Oil
- 1 drop green food coloring
- 2 drops yellow food coloring
Add all of the ingredients into a glass bowl, stir well and put into containers. I filled’short pint size mason jars, using a canning funnel to get the sugar scrub inside without making a mess. This recipe will make 2 of those jars, so feel free to double or triple the recipe if you’d like to make more, or just use smaller containers.?It really is that easy!
I thought my homemade Green Tea & Coconut Sugar Scrub would make a great gift so I decided to decorate the jars all pretty. You’ll need the following supplies for this part.
- Green Tea Coconut Sugar Scrub Label?(printed and cut out)
- Scrapbook paper
- Ribbon
- hole punch
I created a printable?Green Tea Coconut Sugar Scrub Label, so once?you print that out, trace a circle around the text with the bottom of a drinking glass and carefully cut the traced circle out. Next,?punch a hole in the label.?Using the lid of your mason jar, trace its shape onto a piece of scrapbook paper and cut it out. Place the circle of scrapbook paper on the lid, then screw the band on to seal the lid. Cut a piece of ribbon and tie it once around the lid, insert ribbon through the?Green Tea Coconut Sugar Scrub Label and tie once more.
