Recently, I have noticed that wooden door hangers are becoming extremely popular -I especially love the Mason Jar Door Hangers.? The Jack-O-Lantern is any easy one to start with.? I love creating, and?it is an outlet for me.?Don’t be afraid to give this craft a try because everyone can draw a Jack-O-Lantern!
Materials:
Acrylic Paint- black, white and orange
Paintbrushes
Water Jar
Jig Saw
1/4″ Plywood
Wire for hanging
Drill?(bit depends on size of wire)
Pencil
Step 1:
First you will need 1/4″ plywood.? The size depends on how many you plan to make.? I guarantee that you will want to make more than one!? My jar is approximately 20″ x 13″.? The jar shape is fairly easy to draw, and it is okay if your jar is not perfectly symmetrical.? Draw your jar shape on your plywood in pencil and cut it out using your jig saw.? Before you begin painting drill two holes at the top of your jar about two inches apart.
Step 2:
Paint your Jack-O-Lantern orange.? You may want to paint it a couple of times because wood tends to absorb paint.? As you can see from my image the knots and grooves in the wood still show.
Step 3:
Once your paint dries I recommend drawing out the face of your Jack-O-Lantern in pencil. Then you can paint your Jack-O-Lantern’s features using black.
Step 4:
Now?paint your lid gray with black shadows and white highlights.??Add reflections as you see fit?using black and white lines outlining the shape of your jar.? Feel free to add reflections to your Jack-O-Lantern’s features.
Happy Halloween!!
