With the holidays approaching I have already had my girls write out their wish lists. I try to stay in the loop about what is “hip and cool” but I know that what it really comes down to is what they really want and not necessarily what I think they want. Kids know what kids want and I have learned that despite my original reservations my oldest was right and that the all new Disney’s PLAYMATION is as amazing as she said it would be. PLAYMATION is wearable technology that puts your child in the center of the action. You can watch your child team up with The Avengers and help them battle against Ultron’s armies.

This is like a video game only much better. Your child wears the technology and it interacts with your child’s movements making them a part of the game. There are three different blast modes as well as blocking, dodging, sneaking, running, jumping and more. This is not a toy you can just sit down and play…you gotta move! The Repulsor Gear vibrates with every blast and activates awesome light and sound effects to bring pretend play to life.
For ages 6 and up with the Playmation Marvel Avengers Starter Pack players have the core products you need to carry out your first missions and fight alongside the Avengers in the battle to defend Earth from Ultron! The Starter Pack comes with 4 locations and 25 missions out of the box so that players can jump right into the action! Power Activators bring missions to life with over 20 different enemies and you can load Smart Figures to interact with each character.
Don’t let the fact this is a toy fool you into thinking it is easy. Not at all! First off I will say the Repulsor gets very heavy very quickly. My 7 year old found she had arms of Jell-O after 15 minutes of play but that just means she is building muscles and she didn’t seem to mind. Another note is that her forearm was barely long enough to activate the power when you bend your wrist back and sometimes if she doesn’t do it just right it won’t register that move. As her arms gets a tad bit longer that won’t be a problem at all.
You have to really listen to Jarvis as he tells you what you need to do to achieve your mission. You can’t just jump around aimlessly shooting. That ups the “fun factor” according to Big Sis. She likes that she “can’t easily complete a mission and that it takes a lot of work.” This means the game won’t be losing its appeal any time soon. If kids can just “win” then I find they get bored of it quickly. No worries though as your kid will be leveling up plenty even the first time they play. You can also get new characters to give yourself all new missions to complete.
I highly suggest having your child play with this in a dimly lit room because the light action is quite impressive. I am ready to purchase the Gamma Gear Hulk gloves so I can play alongside her! Another cool feature is that you can download the AvengersNet App at no extra cost. Then you can track your battle stats and download more missions to your gear. Please note that some activities require in-app purchase or purchase of other Disney Playmation products. My daughter really likes playing around on the app on her iPad.
Don?t forget to power up your new device with Duracell batteries because you don’t want your kid to have a new toy that doesn’t work till you get batteries! Check out the ToysRUs ad or in-store special for exciting offers on the Duracell batteries you need to make the whole PLAYMATION device operate. I think that Disney’s PLAYMATION is the next hot toy for kids that love superheros and being in the action. This is a HUGE hit with my 7 year old girl and I think it would be especially great with boys too. Big Sis is already adding additional characters to her Christmas list. I love how Playmation is the next step in the evolution of play, where digital gets physical and imagination gets real as players step into the world of Marvel’s Avengers!
