I have been thinking about my children getting older lately. I know they are only 3 and 6 but it is going by so quick and I have to remind myself to just soak it all in…as I am doing laundry and cleaning at the same time of course. For now they both adore picture books and I am so happy for that. I love seeing all the pictures myself. As they get older I know they will eventually move on from picture books but for now we enjoy every one. And Then It Rained on Malcolm is the perfect read-aloud picture book for every little kid. This funny book can always get a fit of giggles out of my girls over Malcolm’s silly antics and his clever thinking. Rich Farr’s fun illustrations add the perfect touch of whimsy to Paige Feurer’s simple yet exciting text.
Even when it’s pouring rain, Malcolm can?t bring himself to stay inside. He puts on his red boots and his red coat, pulls on his goggles, and heads out for an adventure. He splashes around the yard, jumps in puddles, and gets tickled by worms. But when Malcolm’s done playing he runs right through the mud and right through the sand?and right through the house! Mom’s not impressed. How is this silly boy going to fix his mess?
Written for ages 3-6 this Sky Pony Press book is available in hardcover and as an ebook. My girls may be super girly but they love getting into muddy puddles so they of course love Malcolm and they way he enjoys the sticky mud. A great read for reluctant readers or ones that just like adventure and getting messy.
