I received a sample for review. All opinions are my own.
Quiche is one of my all time favorite comfort foods. While it’s pretty easy to make, it can definitely take some time to cook in the oven. I just got a Panasonic FlashXPress Toaster Oven and this was the first thing I made in it. While I’ve never truly cooked or baked inside of a toaster oven, I was very?impressed by how easy it was to do.
The Panasonic FlashXPress Toaster Oven is an amazing appliance. Its features include:
- “FlashXPress” double Infrared Light cooks up to 40% faster than conventional toaster ovens
- Smart toaster oven with automatically calculating cooking time function and control over the heat for variety foods
- Easy-to-use control panel with 6 presets for toast bread, pizza, frozen foods and quick reheat
- Compact design with small footprint on countertop, front removable tray and nonstick interior for easy to clean
It’s incredibly simple to use as well. I’ll admit, upon first glance I was intimidated by all of the buttons, but they’re all self-explanatory. When you push one of the preset buttons, it selects the appropriate amount of time for cooking. You can change the shade control to lighter or darker when cooking. It even beeps when it’s done cooking. If you want to cook something not on the preset menu, just select a temperature and time.
I was also really impressed by how small the toaster oven is itself, yet it has so much space inside of it. I was able to fit a 9″ pie plate in there perfectly. You can even bake cakes in here, too! It has less cook time so my quiche was done in no time at all.
Low Carb Gluten-Free Bacon Gouda Quiche
Crust:
- 2 cups almond flour
- 2 tbsp. melted butter
- Pinch of salt
- 1 egg
Quiche
- 4 eggs
- 1 1/2 cups half and half
- 1 cup (4 oz) gouda cheese – shredded
- 4 slices of bacon – cooked & crumbled
- 1 clove garlic – minced
- Salt & pepper to taste
To make the crust, I put all the ingredients into a food processor and pulsed. I was able to form it into a ball and just pressed it into the pie plate. I set the Panasonic FlashXPress at 355F and cooked for 10 minutes. While it was cooking I cooked the bacon and mixed everything together for the quiche.
Once everything was mixed together I poured it on top of the crust and cooked at 355F for 25 minutes. The FlashXPress timer only goes to 25 minutes, but if you need to you can add more time on once it’s finished.
The light will periodically go on and off while it’s cooking. 25 minutes may not sound like enough time to cook a quiche, but it was perfect and I probably could’ve even done only 20 minutes. This oven really does cut down on cooking time and doesn’t heat up my entire kitchen like my regular oven does.
My quiche turned out just perfect and cooking in the Panasonic FlashXPress Toaster Oven was so easy. The presets have worked great when making toast and waffles and I can’t wait to try out making other things to see how I can cut down on cook time. With the heat of summer upon us, I love that even though the temperature is rising outside, I can keep my kitchen cool by using the Panasonic FlashXPress.
