My daughters LOVE to craft even though I do not consider myself to be a crafty mom. I like craft kits because everything is all together and ready for me. I need the inspiration and usually I can actually craft that way. Callinote is a monthly journaling kit designed to build self-esteem and confidence in girls ages 9-14. First you decorate it and then you write in it.
Each month, girls receive a blank journal with a DIY art tutorial and all the crafting supplies needed to create a custom journal. They also receive a month’s worth of daily “sparks” – inspirational messages, thoughtful questions, and meaningful challenges to get them writing, thinking, and sharing on a daily basis. I wish I had kept a journal when I was younger. I think this is a great way to get kids into writing.
It comes with literally everything you need…even a pen! A special pocket to store pictures, ticket stubs, notes, and other tiny momentos from the month is also in the journal.
I like that the monthly journal is unique every month because the user decorates it. It makes it more special for the writer. I personally like the step-by-step instructions but my daughter only used them as “guidelines.” She is definitely a free spirit.
I had to help my youngest out with hers but my oldest here could do everything but tie the string on her own. She LOVES it. I was actually surprised how mush she enjoys the inspiration sparks. She loves reading it each day and then thinking about what to write.
