This summer, American Girl’s 2015 Girl of the Year Grace Thomas takes her story from page to screen in An American Girl: Grace Stirs Up Success, an inspiring feature-length movie from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment and available on DIGITAL HD, Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD and On Demand.
In An American Girl: Grace Stirs Up Success, Grace has a passion for baking, but her skills are put to the test when she visits her uncle’s Parisian pastry shop and competes to save her grandparents? troubled bakery. With inspiring themes of friendship and empowerment, this wholesome and heartwarming film stars Olivia Rodrigo and Virginia Madsen (?Witches of East End,? Sideways), and brings to vivid life this year’s popular Girl of the Year character and her stories. An American Girl: Grace Stirs Up Success is the latest in a long line of fresh, modern and family-friendly films from American Girl that also includes McKenna Shoots for the Stars, Saige Paints the Sky and Isabelle Dances into the Spotlight.

Grace has a love and passion for baking and for her grandparent’s bakery. She loves it so much she has decided to spend the summer with her two best friends selling cupcakes to raise money for new racing bikes. Unfortunately it is a short lived plan as Grace has to go with her mother to Paris to help out her Aunt who is on bed rest during the rest of her pregnancy. Grace is sad to leave her friends but is excited to work in her Uncle’s P?tisserie. She soon discovers she might not be quite the baker she thought she was back home. Things between her cousin and her aren’t going well, she only seems to be making things worse in the shop and she misses her friends back home. She has to find a way to turn things around. When she finally gets back stateside she finds out her grandparents are on the verge of loosing their beloved bakery. Grace has a plan and it will take all the knowledge and skills she learned in Paris to win a baking competition and put all the money towards helping her family!
There is even an American Girl CD Grace Soundtrack that features music from the live action film. The album American Girl: Grace Stirs Up Success features music that reflects Grace’s upbeat personality, including several French-inspired pop songs that accompany her journey to Paris and back. The soundtrack’s highlight is ?Up, Up and Away,? an original, energetic anthem written and recorded for the film by singer-songwriter Toby Lightman.

The movie was ridiculously adorable and I thoroughly enjoyed it as much as my oldest daughter did. We have recently become an American Girl family as my daughters have gotten older and this movie has opened my eyes to all the amazing things American Girl does. The movie is about a smart girl that works through normal things a girl has to but still uses her smarts to work together and help her family.
