Easter is a
month away so time to start getting goodies ready. Fill those baskets with this year’s Easter titles from HarperCollins Children’s Books! Their books are always top quality and daily reading is truly one of the best things you can do for a child. My girls treasure their books and will even spend hours just browsing the picture on their own.

and illustrated by Mary Lundquist is directed for ages 4 to 8 but my I
think this one can go for younger ages as well because my very
distracted 3 year old was able to sit through this one and she really
enjoyed it.

Bunnies!!! (9780062307835) written and illustrated by Kevan Atteberry is listed for ages 4 to 8 but this is actually a great book for toddlers and preschoolers. It has a simple story but the illustrations are what are so great and little kids will certainly be chuckling along.
Declan is the friendliest sort of little monster.

Red (9780062252074) is written and illustrated by Michael Hall is for ages 4 to 8. I reviewed it a few weeks ago in an earlier post. This truly is a great book about teaching kids you don’t have to stick to a “label” and you should be who you are.
Red has a bright red label, but he is, in fact, blue. His teacher tries
to help him be red (let’s draw strawberries!), his mother tries to help
him be red by sending him out on a playdate with a yellow classmate (go
draw a nice orange!), and the scissors try to help him be red by
snipping his label so that he has room to breathe. But Red is miserable.
He just can’t be red, no matter how hard he tries! Finally, a brand-new
friend offers a brand-new perspective, and Red discovers what readers
have known all along. He’s blue!
Aqualicious (9780062330161) written and illustrated by Victoria Kann for ages 4 to 8. Although I have not read this book we are big fans of Pinkalicious in this house. The entire series is adorable and we can’t get enough of her. This book has mermaids so that alone makes me want to read it since we have a slight addiction to the merfolk around here. A great book for spring and summer!
Pinkalicious loves the beach, especially when she finds a miniature mermaid named Aqua tucked inside a shell! Pinkalicious and her brother, Peter, promise to help Aqua the merminnie find her way home?after they show her all of the pinkamazing things to do at the seashore. From building sand castles to surfing in the ocean, the trio has a ton of fun, but at the end of the day they realize home is not always what you think it is.

Finding Spring (9780062250193) is written and illustrated by Carin Berger. For the 4 to 8 crowd. I previously reviewed this book in an earlier post too and it has even more details of this visually astounding book. When a small bear cub should be hibernating he goes out in search of spring instead.

In the Rainforest (9780060282592) written and illustrated by Kate Duke is for ages 4 to 8 . My 6 year old is especially into this book because because she just loves learning and this book is full of information on the rainforest. I learned interesting facts from this book and I have a master’s degree in library and information science! This book takes you on a journey through the rainforest to learn about everything from the animals to the plan life.
The rainforest is home to millions of plant and animal species. The inhabitants of the rainforest depend on each other and they all depend on rain. How much rain falls in a rainforest? How do scientists work in the treetops? What kind of plants are swimming pools for frogs and crabs? Read and find out!
Amelia Bedelia Cleans Up (9780062334015) written by Herman Parish, illustrated by Lynne Avril is for ages 6 to 10. My daughter has only just begun reading the books from the Amelia Bedelia series and I could not be more thrilled. I just love this book series for girls. They are easy chapter books to help transition from picture books to full on chapter books. This is the sixth Amelia Bedelia chapter book and I can’t wait to read it!

Frogs (9780062289124) by Seymour Simon is a non-fiction children’s book for ages 6 to 10. Award-winning science writer Seymour Simon takes readers on a journey through a frog’s lifecycle, from egg to tadpole to grown frog, with fascinating facts, stunning, full-color photographs, and an underlying message of ecological preservation. My oldest daughter will boo up a book like this before she will pic up a fiction book so we will definitely have to check this one out when it comes out April 21st.

I just love reading to my girls. I enjoy these children’s books with wonderful illustrations because there will come a time they will want to only read chapter books. These fun picture books are a part of their childhood. Books really are one of the best gifts to give kids! You can always include a little inscription inside the front page with the date and who it is from so they can always remember who gave it to them. Fill those Easter baskets with great books because each one is an adventure for the mind.
